I have become the "help desk" for many friends and family members. So, I decided to post some tips.
1. Always use an anti-virus and have it set to update automatically.
2. Use the Microsoft Windows updates, again, set to update automatically.
3. If you do not have a firewall with your anti-virus program, use the Windows Firewall.
4. Clean out your cookies and temp internet files either by using the Internet Options (under tools on the menu bar) or use a free program like CCleaner.
5. Run Disk Cleanup at least once a week.
6. Run Disk Defragment at least once a month.
7. Base upon your computer manufacturer, check for updates for your computer Model at the manufacturer's website. For example, if you own an HP, go to www.hp.com and click on Software and Driver updates.
If you follow the above steps, you should experience a trouble free PC.
